An avalanche onto the party ahead of us in Coire a An avalanche onto the party ahead of us in Coire an t-Sneachda on Tuesday meant that we abandoned our climbing plans that day. Strong southerly winds unfortunately continued overnight, so yesterday we made a late call to drive over to Creag Meagaigh and attempt Staghorn Gully. 🦌Despite arriving in the car park at 11:00, we were back down to the Lochan before dark after a wonderful day out. Conditions were decent, with chunky ice and only a few patches of cautious windslab! 🫣📸 #1 by @connor.roe92#mountain #mountains #cliffs #winter #ice #climbing #climb #scottishwinter #scotland
The Cairngorms are still extremely cold and icy fo The Cairngorms are still extremely cold and icy for now, but not for much longer with a swing to south-westerlies later this week. After two weeks of daily fun I'm back on the sofa After two weeks of daily fun I'm back on the sofa in North Wales with the log burner on, looking fondly through my pictures of skiing (downhill & Nordic), ice climbing, beautiful walks, alpine views and time very well spent with loads of friends. 😊Here's to plenty more in the coming year! 🍻#winter #snow #ice #mountains #ski #skiing #climbing #lesdeuxalpes #cogne #aosta #ecrins #italy #france
Lovely weather for a repeat of Il Sentiero dei Tro Lovely weather for a repeat of Il Sentiero dei Troll, a fun long route that we first climbed two years ago in much leaner condition!Plenty of avalanche debris fanning out from the bottom of the route from all the recent snowfall. Interesting to see, and always good to see it already at rest. ❄️#ice #climb #snow #winter #mountains #alps #cogne

Today's activity was a rather optimistic attempt t Today's activity was a rather optimistic attempt to climb a more remote icefall at the back of the Grauson valley above Cogne. This is despite lots of recent snowfall... 😅A bridge had been washed away in years past, preventing access to the other side of the valley. This meant that our numerous kilometers of bashing through deep snow with full gear was simply a journey to gain a stunning lunch spot in complete solitude. Can't complain too much! ☺️#alps #alpine #snow #ice #mountains #views #cogne

Fantastic last few days up here at Les Deux Alpes. Fantastic last few days up here at Les Deux Alpes. On Wednesday we skied every bit of open piste, with over 15000m of descent. To finish though, yesterday and today we have had brilliant off-piste conditions. So we've just been playing in powder the entire time. It doesn't get much better! 😎#ski #skiing #ice #snow #winter #mountains #alps

Could've had me fooled yesterday! 😍Waist deep snow approaching Crib Goch's north ridge, breaking trail, then perfect conditions up and across to Snowdon.
